My Dad is in hospital. I won't go into details about why, but essentially the thing that's wrong with him is really painful and as a result he finds it hard to breathe. (His lungs are already poked from years of smoking, even though he stopped over 20 years ago.) So he's taking only tiny wee breaths and can't get enough oxygen but he's too scared to take big breaths cos it starts him coughing and that hurts and then he gets scared because he can't breathe. Kind of a vicious cycle.

It hurts to see my big strong Daddy look so weak and small.

That's a scary thing to see! Cass had a similar thing with her mum last year, I think. Had to be on an oxygen mask.

It was just wrong seeing my dad in such pain that he needed a little female nurse to help him roll over after he had an operation two years ago.

Parents aren't sposed to break!

Hope your Dad recovers soon. It is hard to see our parents in conditions that we can't fix. My thoughts are with you.

I'm sorry to hear about your dad's health problem. I'm thinking of you and your family.

This is my blog that I've set up to keep in touch with my friends and family while I'm in NZ. I hope you don't mind that I linked you and Sam to my blog. I was glancing through some of your recent posts and I found out that we have some more in common - I read a reference to karaoke (which we MUST do while I'm there!), and Bruckner's "Locus Iste," which I've sung before. Greystones just did Bruckner's "Os Justi" this year, and we performed it in Europe, in some of the most incredible cathedrals I've ever seen in my life. Singing "Os Justi" at Melk Abbey (Austria) was the most amazing experience ever - I cried so hard that I couldn't sing anymore. INCREDIBLE.

Anyway, welcome to my blog. It's a bit bare at the moment, but once I get to NZ I will update it all the time.... although that will be irrelevant, because by that time I will be living with you. hahaha.
